Boosts is EXPENSIVE, they charge .20 cents a minute for daytime rates, and .10 cents a minute for weekend rates. T-Mobile pre-paid and Cingular GoPhone service are much cheaper. The cheapest (and best) pre-paid service available (if they have it in your area) is Cricket.
I had Cricket when I lived in AZ, and was very pleased with the service, but I moved to an area where it's not available to me anymore. They have plans that start at $30 a month, and have a plan that gives you unlimited EVERYTHING for only $45 a month. Right now Cricket is offering the first month of service free and free activation.

My niece has and her family has it and they have been using it for about 1 year now and they say it is good.
