I have a friend visiting and i don't know where to take her for fireworks. we don't want to have to come early and stay and wait but just simply see them. but also not sso that you just see a small fraction of them. Help? Anyone?

Tomorrow, 4th of July late afternoon into night there will be fireworks viewable along the FDR drive....I believe 23rd to 44th street wil be closed so people can view them.
They will be launched from boats in the water.
If you can, I'd try to get on the circle line for some fantastic views of the skyline along with the fireworkds.
And I'm not sure if it's open, or if your open to it, but the top of the rock (observation deck of GE building) and maybe even the Empire State Building would be great views.

Take her across the Brooklyn Bridge you'll see all 3 sets at once

Get there early
They start at 9.20 pm
