If been pondering if a player on the field can assume the keeper position if the GK is given a red card and no changes can be made. I believe this is possible but does the player have to put a diferent colored shirt? If no shirt is available can he still play GK while using the same colors of the rest of the players?

Yes, Yes, and No. That would be yes, they can assume the keeper position and use their hands, yes they get a different shirt, a keeper jersey, and no, they cannot play it while using the regular jersey. One example is in the Women's World Cup, Sweden 95, when after the United States used three subs, their keeper, Brianna Scurry, was red-carded and Mia Hamm stepped into the goal, and made a save.

As far as I know, if the GK is thrown off with a red card, then it's the same rules as if one of the strikers was thrown off; they play a man down. The Sweeper then has to pick up a LOT of the slack.

but then again, I'm also American, and playing in an American league. it may differ depending on where you're playing.

After 3 Substitutions have already been used and the G.K. gets a Red, then off course a player can act as a Goal Keeper but he definitely has to change to a G.K. uniform, he cannot tend goal wearing his normal uniform as this leads to confusion for the ref & linesman and oppositon players.

yes if the GK gets a red card then a player must guard the goal, if no substitutions can be made. And the player must wear a jersey different to his teammates, can aslo use an undershirt if there's no jersey...

Yep, the player can, if not it wouldn't be a balance match cos the opponents won't have to sweat and keep scoring.. lol, as far as I know he will get the GK jersey too, to differentiate him from the rest of the team.. (I saw this happen be4, only can't remember which match..)
