This is a concept that originates before reliable birth control. Men were in power and the more offspring a man had, the higher his status in whatever group he was in. (It's something common in the animal kingdom, and we probably contain the instinct for it naturally and evolution hasn't quite eliminated this twinge in our genes, but so many don't believe that God was smart enough to create evolving creatures that we can't discuss that now)....a man who mated with multiple women gained stature because most of the group were his offspring. Family size is directly related to the ability to influence groups. That concept is around in name and prejudice only, but it still has a strong foothold in people's psyche.

From your tone, I suspect you'd rather have the issue than the answer, but just to amuse myself, I'm going to take your question seriously. The answer is...

Degree of difficulty.

ANY woman can go home with A man any night of the week.

He may be a piece of crap, and I'm not saying she can even get a relationship out of it, but if she's willing to put out (i.e. - sex), and she isn't overly selective, SOMEONE will accept. For a man, it's a much different dynamic. Even the best looking guys looking for sex often end up going home alone.

Why?

Because women are the gatekeepers of sex. Evolutionarily, women pay a much higher price for sex - pregnancy and the possibility of dying during child birth. A woman can only have 10-15 children maximum during her lifetime, whereas a man can literally father thousands. She is therefore instinctively more selective.

If she is NOT selective, and accepts an unusually high number of mates, it can be a sign of poor mental or emotional health because her actions are counter to what is considered "normal" female instincts. This makes her less attractive (i.e. - bad) because her unhealthy behavior is consciously or unconsciously seen as a sign of poor health and a possible indicator of other unhealthy conditions that may be passed to her offspring.

Because a man is literally capable of fathering thousands of children, men are evoluntionarily less selective. He risks much less in making bad choices sexually, and being promiscuous actually promotes his odds of having viable offspring and passing on his genes to the next generation. His behavior is therefore "healthy" for him evolutionarily.

It's not random and not a coincidence that it is male birds that have bright feathers and perform complex courtship dances. A male must display these healthy traits in relation to his peers to "persuade" the female for sex. She is the selector, and he the selected.

For the avian male, good bird genes leads to lots of bird sex, which consequently leads to lots of bird children. Lots of bird sex therefore is an indicator that he is superior genetically to other male birds. Therefore he gets birdy bragging rights.

The same is true of humans. Whether or not it fits in with someones idealized politically correct views of "fairness" is immaterial. Nature is what it is, not what you want or envision it to be. The facts is the facts. ;-)

Guys don't go around naming of Girls they have had sex with. Girls do go around naming off guys they have done it with. It's the fine line between the sexes. Girls like to talk about those personal things, guys don't.
It's not okay for a man to go around sleeping with people. Unless he is married to that woman.

1st ... you got the words hoe and sluts mixed up. 2nd ... if a guy sleeps with a lot of girls ... he's not the man ... he's a a**hole. It's not ok for a guy to sleep with a lot of women.

It is the only way men can feel superior and that is by sleeping with as many hoochies as they can find. Plus it gives them a leg up at poker night when they are sharing their numbers.

The term SLUT is usually reserved for the female gender.
The term HOER is usually reserved for the female gender.

If the person doing ""It"" is AC/DC I suppose it could apply to that person.

If a male screws around he is usually referred to as a COLLECTOR, or SWORDSMAN- ( like old pres.Kennedy), or a RUE (french/pronounced Rooayy)

I think that's stupid I think they are both wrong and whose this "society" person that makes up all these double standards I'd like to have a word with them?

Yes they both are bad.

Just use a condom and if you want to sleep around do it with people your friends don't know so no-one is talking about it and no-one will know.
