it depends on what you do with the truck if its 4 wheel drive and you go off road or you haul stuff i would put one in you will lose some turning radius and wheel travel but a solid axle is stronger and cheaper to fix if something breaks it takes a lot of work to change from IFS to solid so make sure you know what you are doing before you start you should get a complete truck to use for parts or you could get chevy axels front and rear makes it lots stronger but lots more work if truck is 2 wheel drive you dont need solid axle i have built 4 wheel drive trucks for years and i wouldnt have one with IFS

If you was gonna go play with it hardcore like mud boggin or rock climbing i would change to a solid axle but for just an everyday driver i would not recommend this. You lose a lot in driveability> I should know ladt summer i put a solid axle in my S-10. Great for playing not good for everyday.

Is this truck 4wd? If so...no, it will ruin your transfer case. If it is 2wd, it won't hurt anything but it will not turn worth a crap on slick surfaces like ice and gravel, even wet roads may pose a little problem. Your turn radius will decrease greatly. It's up to you. Depends on the situation. Good luck.
