yeah, its just the slot where you plug up your phone cord. you likely already have it in the back of your computer. if by small chance you dont, they are less than 20 dollars and really easy to install.

yes, dial-up needs a dial-up modem.
DSL and Cable require a DSL modem or Cable modem respectively.
ISDN requires....you guessed it, an ISDN modem.

yes all dial up takes a modem. dsl and roadrunner uses usb or ethernet.
