I recieved an automated call that went something to the effect of:
"Please contact Ken Hughes at 888 249 4134. This is not a sales call. Please contact Ken Hughes at 888 249 4134."

It didn't say what the call was about or who he was aside from his name. Seemed sort of like a scam to me. I don't want to call back in case I get charged for something or end up opening my self up to more unwanted telephone calls. But I don't want to not call back if it's important. Has anyone been called by this "Ken Hughes"?

It's a SCAM, DON'T CALL BACK!

This site has been bombarded with vistors looking for information regarding Ken Hughes who leaves a message for people to call him at (888) 249-4134. Who is Ken Hughes and why is he calling you?

Various sites around the internet tie “Mr. Hughes” to Alyon Technologies and/or Merchants Credit Guide. The same companies also leave messages from “Adam Kelly.” We previously reported on a California Attorney General’s lawsuit against Alyon Technologies for telemarketing scams here. If “Ken” or “Adam” are calling you, it means that “he” has acquired, at bargain basement prices, a debt and is attempting to collect it from you.

What should you do about it? If you owe the debt, pay it. If not, and you are being harrassed, you might want to consider on of the following choices:

This blogger did some research, called Merchants Credit Guide and cleared the situation up. He writes:

I was getting repeated automated messages on my phone from “Adam Kelly”. The message said to call 888-249-4134, and that it was not a sales call.

My caller ID identified the incoming call as coming from 312-895-3749.

An internet search showed me this is the company.

Merchants Credit Guide Co.
223 W. Jackson Blvd, Suite 900

Collection Agency

312-895-3749 cell phone
888-249-1033
888-249-4134

So I gave a call over there and Harold Butler told me that I was getting the calls in error and that they were meant for someone named Sylvia.

He said that they’d remove my name from the list right away.

Cool. A collection agency that cares.

If that does not work, perhaps you should consider filing a complaint with the FTC here.

Here are some other numbers 'he' might use:
888-249-4134, 312-895-3406, 312-895-3749, 888-249-1033, 800-835-0531, 312-470-2615, 312-470-2606, 312-360-3000, 312-360-3024, 312-895-3485, 312-470-2620
