Supposedly this car was invented in 1969, why do we still need oil if we've had this technology for over 35 years?

If the inventor's claims of using a 12 volt battery to split the water molecule to get hydrogen molecules and oxygen were true, not only he, but others would have stolen his idea and patented it.

Furthermore, if the big bad oil companies deemed this a true threat to future sales and profits they would have paid this inventor and patented the process to try and make this invention work.

I just watched a 60 minute program that showed how much electricity it takes to make the liquid hydrogen. That's the major stumbling block in making hydrogen powered vehicles an alternative fuel source.

This article is unsupported and just should be viewed as a human interest story and nothing else.

That sounds about right .. I have seen calibrator's with a fine screen that dispenses the gas to be burned more effectively back when I was a young Boy 35 miles in town and 50-55 miles per gallon Hwy.. This was 1968.. Who knows why they keep these things away from the public ... The Big Boys only let the common people now when some one stumbles on it by accident... No one cares about us , we are on our own ... Unless we take back our Government and a common man is elected to the white house we are destined to pay and pay and pay and pay...

Well I think it is probably one of the first fuel cell cars, It is a fact that the Oil companies and auto industry have worked hand in hand to delay the coming of any technology that would replace the burning of petrochemicals.

It's not water powered, it's _hydrogen_ powered. It takes energy to get the hydrogen out of the water (more energy than the car will produce by burning the hydrogen). There are lots of hydrogen powered cars, but they aren't practical.
