There is an old joke.

A man goes into the doctor and says "Doctor everytime I raise my arm it hurts."

The doctor replies to the "Then don't do that."

Do the same thing with your knee. If it hurts DON'T RUN.

It is probably sprained. So RICE it. That is (R)est, (I)ce, (C)ompression(Wrap it up with ace wrap) and (E)levation. The elevation should be higher than your heart. So lay on your back and put several pills under the knee until it is above your heart. The pain will stop almost immediately.

In any case you should be under the care of a Doctor. Specifically one schooled in sports injuries.

Hey, I am going to give you the best advice you will ever get.
Go to a SPORTS DOCTOR. A knee injury is nothing to play around about.
It sounds to me as if you have a torn Ligament... Quit playing or running until you get to a GOOD DOCTOR. They will have to take some X-Rays to be sure..
I know, I have been there.

You really need to go see a doctor. xray your knee and make sure you are told exactly whether everything is alright. Also never fail to tell your doctor that your knee hurts and this is because if you fail to let him or her know (that is your doctor) you might be grooming a deadly injury.

Just take a rest and put Ice on it when you sleep. ^^
