Hi there,

PLEASE, please, please avoid downloading and installing AVG, Spybot and Ad-Aware unless you are happy to have second-rate protection on your PC.

People continue to recommend these programs because they are free - yet are surprised when their computers then proceed to get infected with the latest viruses and other malware. Looking at current research, these 3 products are now 3 of the worst computer security programs available...

The product that offers the best protection and removal abilities is actually from a product called Prevx1. This is consistently scoring much higher than even the most well-known products such as Norton, McAfee, Kapersky, Microsoft, etc, and really is THE program everyone should have on their PCs right now.

They are currently offering a free trial of their product which will scan your computer and automatically remove any infections you have on your PC free of charge. It is definitely worth giving a go above all the other recommendations on here. You can read more about Prevx1 and download your free trial here:

Same problem with bullguard - and I tried to reboot big mistake - it will not reboot or give me a restore option - anyone know how to get the system to restore to a previous point in time before the update on start up? It is a hoax that just forces the anti virus to quarantine pretty much every file if you leave the computer running. Whatever you do not shut down your computer, I did and now it is completey screwed unless I can restore it to a previous point in time from this morning. Can't belive bullguard and bitdefender are hit by this. Kapersky seems to be ok as this is what is running on the lap top I am using now. OK update - I got back in using system restore but alot of the programs have problems - including the fact that there is no sound. I have asked bullguard to pay for an engineer to come and sort my computer out as I do not really want to sit here installing and uninstalling programs. Their customer service was not helpful and seemed grumpy when I told them what I thought. I will take it up with them in the future.

Having a Trojan or a virus on your computer is like having a thief in your house and knowing about it. Get rid of it. If you're not very computer savvy, I would recommend you ask a friend or someone you know who's a computer geek to help you get rid of the virus. Its imperative that every PC has a good Antivirus and Firewall program installed.

Norton is excellent. Zonealarm is a good free Firewall program.

Getting back to your problem: The best way I would recommend is to back-up any important personal stuff on your computer onto a CD, and format your computer and re-install every thing. Its the sure-fire way of getting rid of the thief. Ask your friends for help, they may know someone who can do it for you for free. Its that simple.

Try the Norton Anti-Spyware.. If cannot remove better give up and reformat your PC.

the best (and usually only way) to COMPLETELY clear out the virus is the recover ur whole computer and start over again. if u do that, it is a good idea to save all documents and pictures to an external hard drive or a floppy or cd rom, which ever u have better access to. if u call the company u got ur computer from, theyll tell u the same thing.

Make sure you have virus protection installed and that it is up to date. If your computer is already infected try an online virus scan. Easy way to find one is do a search on Google. Search "free online virus scan" and choose a company like symantec or mcaffee.

Get a better anti-virus program. Also, you want to get an ad-aware program as well.

Ad-Aware Pro is good, and Norton Anti-virus is good for killing viruses.

Or you could get something like Zone Alarm Security Suite which has everything in 1 program.

Make sure your windows has the latest updates and you have your firewall turned on with only required exceptions.

Make sure you have a virus program installed on your computer and its updated and shceduled to run at least once a week.

Run a spyware check at least once a week.

I also have a purchased spyware program that I run:
CA PestPatrol

But you could download FREE Windows Defender Beta ( I do not like it though)

Good Luck and be patient it could take a few hours to get back to normal!
