The difference between USB 1.1 and 2.0 has nothing to do with what Windows you have. The best way to tell is to refer to your computer's or motherboard's instructions manual. If it says USB 2.0 then you got 2.0. If it says just USB then you likely have 1.1.

Windows XP will detect it automatically whether you have USB 1.1 or 2.0 and will pop up a message saying you that you have a "high speed device" hooked up to a slower USB port if your device can run at 2.0.

For 2000, ME, and 98 you will have to refer to your manual.

If you have Windows XP, plug in a device that is USB 2.0 capable and a box will pop up that says "This device can perform faster..."

If you have an older version of Windows...espcially 98, they're probably 1.1.
