You might want to check with your school first. My university's network only works with PC's. Unless you don't plan to use your school's network, in which it really depends on personal preference. If you are familiar with one or the other, I would recommend purchasing the one you are familiar with. You can then use a program called Pear PC(see link in sources) to simulate an Apple computer. And if you are buying a new Mac with an intel processor, you can use Apple's Boot Camp to dual boot Apple and PC.

Apple Macintosh is cooler and sexier than any Windows machine. They are probably the best for almost anything you want to do except hard-core gaming even if Blizard games play well on Macs. That said, it is still pretty handy to use the same type of computer everyone around you is using. Sometimes you need to use a particular piece of software and need the computer that will run it, so check out the software carefully. Enjoy whichver you get.

super reaction to this question and intensely savvy recommendation! particular, application subject concerns are between the keys that have a tendency to 'lock-in' human beings to employing a platform for their desires. The place of work experience is a main occasion. you ought to use it, yet you do no longer own it. you will get it for Macs or computing device yet do no longer flow attempting to apply one for the two! I admire Macs, and think of they are stylish products of engineering ask your self and product progression. and finally they have an extremely severe working gadget. the extremely some previous tries did no longer waft a super variety of boats. besides the fact that, Apple is basically as 'company' as Microsoft, and that i think of Steve J. must be a lil loopy. you will get homestead windows on a Mac, and in spite of the engineer in me, I nonetheless think of thats loopy.... yet attempt and placed OsX on a computing device, and the could desire to of Apple will fall on you and provide you a BSOD, a wedgie, or worse! And particular the coment is genuine with reference to the over the only million grand mark- did the piece on it. Like my Mac yet no longer enuff to surrender my XP or for that count, my Linux!

You should get an apple.
But the new Apple has an Intel chip
So its sorta like you're having both.
It has Mac's OS (Mac OSX Tiger)
and Window's OS (Windows XP)

coz
an apple a day keeps the mouse playing... :)
generic pc will do..y....coz its easily upgradable..easy to fix hardware problems..you can do it your self without going to a
branded store and pay a lot just to fix it...
generic is same as apple does...d problem with a branded one is you dont get to enjoy learning new things especially in hardware stuff..
