American people are so self concerned that our countrys system of checks and balences are slowly becoming one big joke. When is the last time Bush got checked on any of his unconstitutional actions? For example, Guantanamo Bay, Propaganda for war on Iraq, Phone tapping American citizens secretly and his lack of separation between church and state. When is the last time we as American people made let it be known that we care about the greater welfare of this country as it pertains to us all in the end?

I think people have spoken out about the current administration's abuses of power. Unfortunately, most of them get labeled un-American or paranoid. The labels don't make much sense, but I guess they're an effective way to create ill-will towards people who are concerned about this country's future.

I think we have a serious problem with consumerism also, but I'm not sure it's directly related to the sort of government corruption you're talking about.

You glibly label actions unconstitutional with no actual support for your conclusion. That aside, you need a history lesson concerning the detention without trial of enemy combatants: NEVER, and I mean NEVER, were they given access to US courts. The outcry from the far left on this issue is absurd -- these people want to destroy YOUR way of life, kill you and kill your family, and you're staying up at night worrying about whether they should have the same rights as a US citizen??

As for "propaganda" -- even though one man's propaganda is another man's truth, even assuming that propaganda IS coming from us, propaganda is a tool countries use to win wars. You DO want the US to WIN, don't you...as opposed to losing and more innocent Americans being slaughtered?? Boy, and you wonder why "un-American" seems to fit so well.

Another poster already addressed the phone tapping -- the government could really not care less about what you're saying on the phone, nutty as it may be.

As for a supposed lack of separation between church and state, keep in mind that separation does not mean the US government must be dedicated to Atheism. "In God We Trust" has been plastered all over our government since the time the Constitution was written, making it clear that the Constitution did not envision the complete evisceration of any and all religion that the far left advocates for America today.

Your attack on America as being rife with consumerism reflects your America-hating attitude and is perfectly consistent with your other similar views, such as wanting us to lose the war and believing that America, not Muslim Fascist terrorists, is the problem in the world.

As to phone tapping, phones were only tapped for people who have been known to speak with suspected terrorists. And personally, if someone in this country were communicating with a terrorist, I'd want to know. Wouldn't you?
