There is sound...but it sounds squeaky/highpitched. I took away the wireless thing but it still sounded like that. There are no wires and the speakers are in the motherboard I guess. It is an AC'97 sound card. it probably sucks because this computer is from my mom's company that they were not using anymore! Is that the reason why then??

it is because you are using a little cheap speaker buit in the computer that is only designed to play windows sounds. you need to get a set of speakers and plug them into the audio out and disable the pc speaker

perhaps it has something to do with the drivers. First, what are you doing? are you playing a game, a song? if it's a game them you might want to try checking the game settings. If that fails, then check to see if the drivers were instaled correctly. To do that, right-click on the My Computer icon and select "properties" select the "Hardware" tabs and choose "Device Manager" expand the plus sign next to "Sound, video and game controllers". check to see if there is a yellow question mark anywhere. if so, then you'll need to download and install the drivers for it.
