Why do people smoke marijuana, crack and cigarettes and do other drugs like cocaine, etc.

There's no simple explanation.
Basically it's for a wide assortment of reasons.
Usually it's either for shear pleasure or to enhance or escape something.
All to often what starts as one thing ends as another.
Why do you eat at MacDonalds? BurgerKing?
Your told by every health expert how bad they are for you but we all do it anyway.
Like I said, there's no simple explanation.

I can tell most of the people who answered have never done drugs. Because it makes you feel so good. Not just a Little good but very, very good. The bad side is it also makes you feel so bad. that is why they do it again, to feel good again. It becomes a never ending cycle. Get high, feel good, come down, find more drugs, get high again. By the time they figure this out they are hooked.

Various reasons. People with issues do them in order to cope with life, or have an addiction that they cannot get over. Others are able to dabble without adversly impacting their lives, simply for the enjoyment of it.

Initially, people are just curious- the number one reason people cite is experience. Other factors include self-medication, peer pressure, most mostly the first reason. Of course, none of these are good reasons, most reasonable people look at the reasons not to and decide that it is not worth it.

Some people have chemical imbalances in their bodies which causes them to 'crave' certain things.... nicotine.... caffine.... and after awhile, they become 'addicted' to such ingrediants..... some have no will power to stop... even after it has gone so far that they sell their possessions, bodies and in some cases, even their souls to put an end to their cravings.... it has nothing to do with being 'cool' or 'popular'.... no one certain race, sex, age has drug or alcohol problems.... anyone.... anywhere.... you..... me..... the red headed girl from down the street..... the lawyer from uptown that comes in the coffee shop and orders a triple espresso everyday..... the great-grandmother of nine who babysits everyday..... ANYONE...... ANYWHERE

I guess for me it "Why do they start", what happens after they start is more an understanding of what is addiction. I think I started because I thought it would be "Cool", mind you this is coming from a 60's geek. That isn't a very good reason

Because they think it is cool at the time and then they can't stop when they figure out it is not. They are pretty stupid to try them in the first place. They want to kill themselves too I guess or at least ruin their lives.

most of them are sociopaths but some have other issues that they deal with by running away i.e. doing drugs or booze to make it go away for a while. most of them really dont care for themselves at all its really sad.

Ask yourself the same question why you'd perfer this but not that...everyone has different preferences and likes/dislikes...don't fight it or think too much about these questions...
