From what it looks like, you have to get your visa ahead of time due to all the paperwork necessary. See the website below.

Depending on where you are from, your best bet is to go to the Ghana Embassy or Consulate and apply there. In the US, you can go to their website and download the application, probably the same for UK site. While you can "technically" get a visa at the point of entry, let me tell you from experience, it is exceptionally expensive and of a much shorter duration. I inadvertently neglected to renew the visas for my two sons (don't know where in the passport I was looking at the time). We usually went to Ghana on an annual basis (though we now live in Ghana), and for whatever reason, I renewed my visa and my husband's, but thought my sons visa was still valid. Way Wrong! When I got to immigration at Kotoka Airport, they pointed out the expiry date. I was able to obtain visa for both my boys there at the airport, but at a cost of $100 each, for a maximum of 30 days, and after only about a 3 hour delay in immigration while explaining what happened (they really don't want to hear the excuses, and you should be ready to "dash" the official something for his trouble). The visas I got in the states cost me $40 each and were good for 1 year.

Hope this helps and that you have a wonderful trip.

No, in the UK it takes at least 48hrs. A colleague is going to the embassy today. Don't forget that you need a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate too AND that combat/camoflage gear is NOT ALLOWED to be worn in Ghana.
