You can live a perfectly happy life without alcohol. It is not necessary to your health or well-being. So why try to force yourself to like it? Just volunteer to be the designated driver when you go out with your friends! You'll be a hero.

It sounds like you can drink alcoholic beverages, but simply choose not to do so, because you don't like the taste. That's fine. There's a lot of drinks that don't have appealing tastes. Some people who want to get the buzz from drinking alcohol will put up with the poor taste in order to satisfy their desire. Others will find drinks that have an appealing taste. And others simply find other drinks to enjoy, ones without alcohol.
If you fall into the last category - tried but didn't like it, that's fine. Nothing to worry about. Perhaps it might be handy to know which drinks taste worst to you, so if someone offers to buy you a drink, you know what not to order...
If you feel that you absolutely must acquire a taste for alcohol for social or professional reasons, perhaps attend a wine tasting or something similar to learn to appreciate the variety.

Your not missing much, if it appears that people are having a good time it's just that the alcohol is dropping their inhibitions, but if you need alcohol to have a good time than maybe your really not enjoying the activities your involved with. I drink sometimes but I drink what my friends consider girlie drinks, I drink for taste, if I have to force it down than im not really enjoying the beverage and just being part of the crowd...I do my own thing because I am the driver in my life.

I am 48 and I don't like the taste either. It can be the finest wine in the world and it tastes like medicine to me. i go to many social events where people drink alcohol. What I do is drink Pellegrino or Perrier water with a slice of lemon. that way you have a drink on your hand and nobody has to know it is not alcohol.

I'm 24, I don't really like the taste of alcohol. Try to find something that gets you drunk quick that you don't need to drink a lot of. My problem is that I don't get drunk easily and i don't like to drink so I have to pound a dozen shots just to get a buzz. Not very fun

No, don't worry. Not everyone drinks. I don't. (I can't stand the taste or smell of alcohol). And I have just as much fun as my friends when we go out. If you are worried about being out with everyone else who is drinking....order a Club Soda with a twist, or a Virgin Mary, or just a coke...no one but the bartender needs to know.
Besides, wouldn't you like to have an "edge"??? Something that sets you apart from the crowd? Not many people do........................

Nope, wouldn't worry about. I'm 22 and all of my friends are sober. I can't drink beer, but I can I love whisky. The probelm is I have no one to drink with so what's the point? Besides alcohol is an acquired taste, don't rush it. The longer you wait the sweeter it tastes.

You are lucky that you cannot drink alcoholic drinks because you will have long life. Alcohol destroys the inner parts of the body.

I don't really like the taste either so don't worry about it. Getting drunk is over rated anyway. But if you are intent on finding a good tasting beer try Corona w/ lime, Bacardi, or Smirnoff (my personal favorite). The Bacardi and Smirnoff are flavored beers so they kind of mask the over powering taste of regular beer. Hope this helps! :)

mate, i'm in the same boat.
i choose not to drink, because I don't like the taste.
i take it as a sign of immaturity when someone tries to get me to after i have already said no.
it's only a problem if you think it is.
if you want to drink, try others
if you don't, that's your choice to make
