ok, my suggestion is this: you need to figure out WHY you're scared of driving. is it because you doubt your own ability? you're afraid of the lack of control over all the other drivers on the road? are you afraid of making a mistake and having someone honk at you? are you a nervous person? once you figure that out, you have 2 ways to drop yourself in it.
1) go through a driving school. this will be someone professionally trained, who you don't know, who will show you how to drive, encourage you and at the end of the day, probably push you a little - not always a bad thing.
2) get someone you know to teach you. this will be someone you know and who knows you, so they'll make allowances for things, they'll encourage you but maybe they won't push you because they don't want to stress you out.
good luck, and remember, everybody had their first driving lesson at some point!

well it can be hard to get over any fear but its possible. just get behind the wheel with someone in the car that you trust (can be a husband close friend instructor neone that you feel confertable with) and jsut go. it might be better to start in an empty parking lot. but work at it and go a little at a time. if you ever feel overwhelmed stop. but just keep going
good luck i hope it works out for you

Start out by driving in remote areas where there's noone around. Once your comfortable with that step it up a notch. And then just keep moving forward.
It might also help to know what part of driving scares you.

omg i kno Exactly how u feel girl...i'm not sure wat to do---im a kid tho, but everyone's learning so early these days!!! geez. maybe you should just learn. get your permit. get ur license. just learn, for the sake of an emergency. if something happens...(say your kids are in trouble and u have to get to them) ur driving ability can REALLY come in handy. i always wonder: what if there's an earthquake or some sort of natural disaster like hurricane katrina? driving can really help you get the HECK up outta there.

Run into something. Sounds harsh I know, but until you crash and get it out of the way you won't be comfortable. But why am I wasting my time, you won't do it...fine, keep being scared. I'll bet i'm the only one that suggests this. Driving course. ***-a-doodle doo.
