Pick up a copy of BackStageWest weekly newspaper. There are audition notices for community theatres. You can also check their web site. Also check actorslife.com web site for community theatre audition notices.
Never pay for an audition, never pay for a part. Many community colleges offer acting classes as part of the regular curriculum and at affordable rates. Good Luck!

There are acting classes everywhere in LA. Get a copy of the trade magazine and you can start looking at your possible choices there. You'll need to choose one that fits the acting jobs you hope to get. Many times the better classes will hold open auditions where several casting directors and agents will come and watch several of you all at once. Be careful. Do not pay an agent before he gets you a job. Many "agents" want money to go get you a job. Nada. They get you a job and then you pay them from the salary from that job.

Contact the Chamber of Commerce. Call the various colleges and universities and talk to someone in their drama departments. Ask everyone about the community theater and how to and whom to contact. Call the newspaper offices for the same info.

Lots of luck!
