Ages ago, my sister and I used to watch a really creepy British movie and I would love to remember the title of it. It's about these orphans sent to live with their crazy uncle and other horrible relatives. At the beginning are really depressing shots of old London, and at some point in the movie the uncle's house burns down....I know that isn't much to go on, but if you know the movie, you probably know what I'm talking about. Thanks!

It's not Limoney Snickett's, but you're right, my description does seem to sound like that. The title was an alliteration, like the "Weird, Wild, Mr. Willis" or something.

I know the book/movie you are referring to, but sadly like you I can not remember the name. I do remeber this, that when the first Harry Potter book came out, the writer of the novel that made the movie you described said he would sue J. K. because the persona of the people in her books matched the characters in his book. What came of that lawsuit I don't know.

Someone ealier said it was Great Expectations. Which Is not true, because the movie we are both thinking of had 3 orphaned children in it. Great Expectations had only 1 Child.

The only two that seem to match are:

Great Expectations & Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

You said it's not Lemony Snicket's...so here is the breakdown for Great Expectations:

Great Expectations (1946)

Charles Dickens' classic tale of Pip, a poor orphan who befriends an escaped convict and who grows up in the company of a bitter old woman, Miss Havisham, and her haughty young ward, Estella. Pip learns the rewards of both vindictiveness and gratitude as a result of these events.

Wow, that really does sound like Lemony Snickets, but it wouldn't have been ages ago that you watched it I guess, it only came out a couple of years ago.
