The internet has changed the way information is received but how accurate is it hom much should be reported and how much should be left out, when is too much reporting and when is too little, who decide what is reported and what is not; there are so many stories and sometimes the information seems to take a life of its own.

Just as reliable as the major networks or newspapers if not more so. There has been many a blog or Web site that has corrected the major sources of news. If you want the facts or truth, you HAVE to check more than one source. The Media are famous for 'spinning' the news and negative reporting.

I learned from a very knowledgeable professor that you need to take in to account the SOURCE of the news. For example, you can assume that most news stories you read from CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. are probably accurate as well as most web sites ending in .gov, .edu, .org. If you read a news story on fred'sweb.com then you need to be wary of the information. Just consider the source.

For accuracy of information on web,you have to see the source.Web sites of leading news agencies and news papers are reliable. The web pages of leading universities and news agencies have plenty of information and references.

No more accurate than any other stories told by people that experienced the event second-, third-, fourth-hand, etc.
