Um. Are there terrorists trying to express their view s in the United States?

I thought that any form of slanderous implication in the form of a question would be illegal, but my husband disagrees; he said it would only be a civil judgement and not something that you could be jailed for. He said that if you asked a question in the form of a threat, like: "How would you like me to knock your teeth out?" Neither of us have a law degree, though.

There is no such thing as an illegal question. However, the questions that some people might ask would be considered illegal depending on the subject of the question and the person they want to answer the question. The purpose of questions is to seek information. Seeking information is not illegal but what makes the information illegal is how you use it.
Your question should have been "What question or questions would be inappropriate to ask in the United States". Before the 9/11 bombing, people in the US were more relaxed. Since the 9/11 bombing people are on edge about everything because we all feel we have to guard our conversations, asking questions and seeking information to the question we want answers to. Three subject matters that can really get you in trouble are 1. Conversations/questions about terrorism. 2. Conversations/questions about the War in Iran. 3. Conversations/questions about the decision made by President Bush and his staff. We have the right to freedom of speech, but, again because of the 9/11 bombing, we have to guard ourselves against what we say and what we want to know.
