Generally, I would say yes. Sex says a lot of different things to a lot of different people.
There is so much to find out about a person before you have sex. How much do you like them, enough to add this whole new dimension to your relationship? What are they like, what do they expect from a sexual relationship....lord knows then you've got to worry about stalkers, etc.
I think it's a great idea to be as liberated as you want to be regarding sex, but with caution. Nothing wrong with looking at least a little before you leap. To have sex with someone on the first date says a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Respect yourself and the person you are interested in enough to get to know them before adding sex to the equation.

I think it's a big mistake on the first date, if you want to go out with them again, or be seen as a serious possibility for a real relationship.
Three weeks of dating is the gold standard.

It means a lot to withold from sex until you really mean it. It shows the other person that your not just an easy ****. On the other hand if you think your not gonna last long as a couple then go for it.

I slept with my man on our first date, I didn't intend to..I even tried wearing ugly underwear to try preventing anything from happening..but it didn't work. Well, eight years later, we are still together. It just depends how comfortable you are with yourself and with the other person. If you don't feel that it's a mistake well then more power to you. And if you have any regrets..then you learn from it and move on. (Just be safe)

well, I've had sex with some people after just meeting them at a party. I've never regreated it.
