A 15-year-old Iraqi girl in Mahmoudiya lives near a US checkpoint and has to regularly pass through the checkpoint to go about her daily business. Four US troops notice her, and decide to rape her. So one day, they get drunk, go to her home, murder her parents, murder her 7-year-old sister, and then brutally gang-rape her before shooting her several times in the head and burning her body. You can read about this here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/03/AR2006070300399.html?nav=hcmodule
I so badly do not want this story to be true, but I know that it probably is. I also know that atrocities like this are committed by Iraqi insurgents, but they are criminals, not our representatives in a foreign country that we are supposed to be helping. For God's sake, what is happening to us? We have to assume that there are probably other cases of US soldiers raping and murdering Iraqi civilians which have not yet been exposed. Why are some US troops doing these things?

This sort of stuff occurred in the Vietnam War also. This problem always occurs when the 'enemy' looks like (same race) as the civilians you are there to protect.

The soldiers detach themselves from their enemy... meaning they draw an image in their minds of a picture of these guys as less than human. It is the only way the human mind can justify pulling the trigger repeatedly.

Then along comes this little girl and the soldiers have no vision of her as a human being but rather as an object... well you know the rest.

It's brutal and horrific. It is due to lack of the necessary training and relief time much needed. Those troops need to be made an example up and spend the rest of their lives in prison.

There are sickos everywhere. Sadly they gravitate to places like the military or working in institutions where they think they are given power over others and can do what they want. A few years ago the was a case at one of Pennsylvania's State Hospital for the criminally insane, Farview. An escapee from there wrote a book exposing the guards for making inmate fight to the death for gambling purposes. If they refused to fight they were killed. It was a real scandal! It is everywhere that hires a lot of people and puts them in charge of others.

I don't know why U.S troops are doing this. I mean what did this 15 year old girl ever do to them. Maybe the U.S troop's are killing Iraqi people so there are less of them in Iraq. But that is a really sad story. And i really don't know why U.S troop's would do that to a young girl. I know she is an Iraqi girl but we all live in the same world so why should it matter where we live or how different we are.

The service seems to want to recruit anyone, not as selective as one might think. I believe the majority are good men. But in every organization there are some others.
War or any crisis situation will do strange things to the mind. Why is our Army expected to act as a police department that wasn't their training and shouldn't be their job.

I highly doubt insurgents get drunk, rape a girl, then kill their parents. But if it makes you feel less bitter about the truth that is happening over in that part of the world, then more power to you

What does this? The theroy that enviroment doesnt make sense in this case; the solders are taken care for as far as food so no aparent absence of resorces or oputurny. I think the Bible said it best when it said that what ever good in mankind comes from the mercy of God. Otherwise, by our oun devices, we kill for our plesure and wants.

Its a crime that happens every day in our big cities and yours too. Your graphic recap cheapens the efforts of dedicated soldiers and marines who are trying to pull your country back into the community of nations. Shame on you.

********...this is more American hating. More then likely this little 15 YO terrorists was working for Al Qaeda and lured the brave, morally justifed American GIs into a trap. However the ambush failed and they bravely fought back...esp. killing the little terrorist moon worshipper.
