A yound girl at work showed it to me and i think it is totally nuts they all have the town and state they live in even the school information on their lives and everything way to much information and i seen people my age on there from my town and they put pictures of their children. people need to think and yound teens need to have parents that pay attention to what they are doing on the computer never let a kid have on in their rooms because you have no clue who your kid is talking to mine are only aloud to chat with my friends or a few of theirs that i know if i dont know them then never will they talk with my child
but my space is the root of all evil when people don't use it right but look at yahoo answers when not used right a lot of bad stuff here some times i guess what i am trying to say is it wasn't suppose to end up being so bad but it is

the site isn't the problem. It's the people who are causing the problems. You have kids and young teens lying about their ages, and putting up sexual pics. Some look much older. You do have predators on there too. You have married men and women or people in relationships flirting with the people they meet, and many have taken it beyond just being friends and chatting. For some it's just a fantasy place to say and do anything and play. Some use it to network and promote Still again, it's not the site, it's the users who make the choice to do all these things. Parents are responsible to oversee what their kids are doing by checking it often or even standing by sometimes to see what is being said or who the friends are. Dateline should not only bust predators, but do some segments on the teens and kids lying ,with half dressed pics on and adding to the problem. If they get busted too maybe parents will keep a closer eye on the online activities. They are also responsible. Myspace has rules and policies, concerning age, obscenity, langage and nudity. Still it doesn't mean people will follow the rules. Myspace does have a responsibilty to keep their rules or policy enforced, but it is almost impossible with the membership as high as it is. This is why they say report abuse or offensive things. The majority of us won't because if they can't enforce their own policy, why should we tell anyone else what they can or can't do. Myspace isn't the issue, the ones who abuse it are. Anything can be abused and made bad or evil. What about here on yahoo answers and 360? How are they any different than myspace? Have you read many of the questions or answers to them? Still you are on here. Are you going to protest this site too and every site on the net? It's the people, not the sites.

I don't think it's the websites fault personally I just feel that the kids on there are too naive about the web to know what should and should not be on there, teens have what are called personal fables they believe that nothing bad would ever happen to them because they are different from everyone else. It is an amazing site for helping people keep in touch after high school. I had myspace and deleted it because I just got tired of it but, the website has different ways of protecting ur profile, problem is that you have to look for this, personally I think it should be automatic no one can view any of ur info unless they are listed as your friend, but then again these kids list anyone as their friend because it's basically a popularity contest. I think parents should be more involved for example my dad walks into our rooms even me being 20 and just stays there for a few mins. when you know ur parents do this you tend to stay away from certain sites or from writing certain things, once parents begin to check up on their kids again like in the old days, pages like myspace will not be viewed as dangerous.

Freedom of speech comes with a price. That price being: you're not always going to like what others have to say.
Those that don't approve of myspace, or any other site for that matter, should not go to them. They should monitor their children and make sure they don't have access to the same sites.
Keep in mind, all of the hype about myspace.com is spurred by the media. As you may already know, those writing the stories are the same ones telling them, and the same ones profiting from the sensationalism they create.
Next time you hear a horror story about myspace.com, consider the source and question the facts. Chances are they are making mountains out of mole hills.

I don't think that MySpace is bad. The problem is most younger people don't know how much information is too much to put in your profile. If you don't want some weird person to stalk you. Then don't put all if your personal information in your profile, and only give that kind of thing to people you know. It's not that difficult to do, you just can't assume that everyone on the internet is a good person.

Myspace is a pretty valuable site to those who use it sensibily.
Obviously listing you address along with photos is a dumb practice anywhere on the web and not just localised to myspace.
People probabally should be educated about these matters in school rather than make legitimate users of these sites suffer because of a minority of incidents.

There is nothing wrong with a myspace. The only problem is just not give out personnal info. That is why people get raped and molested. And have people as friends who you know not someone who just comes out of thin air and requests you.

wow! that must be a short root. Don't you think evil has been around longer than computers?
If you are careful and know what kind of behavior to expect from molesters, you can avoid them. Getting rid of a web site will stop nothing.
Quick tips: beware of someone who flatters you a lot, tells you you are very mature for your age, agrees with 99% of your likes & dislikes, claims to share your problems.
Lastly, don't give any personal information, no pictures, not the name of your town or your school.

well, let me be honest.. i had a problem with social networks such has hi5 and myspace. but if you see on the other hand, it's not so bad. why do we still have chat rooms, forums and everything going on? It is still a source of communication and a social network, isnt it? It is upto the person whom to accpet and whom to reject, basically, its about using brains.
From what I have heard, i think myspace is coming with this thingi that no one at the age of 18 or over can add any one under the age of 18, unless the person knows their email address or name. I guess it will staisfy you. But you seriously don't need to go against it. :)
