Yes, Chicago will majorly regret the deal. It's an insane amount to pay for a 32 year old with a horrendous offensive game. Ben's game was built on energy-since the Pistons won their championship his energy has steadily waned. Whether it's because he's no longer hungry or simply because he's getting old is questionable, but I think this signing is disastrous for both Wallace and Chicago.
I don't know if this deal will help confirm Dumars' genius, but I do think the Pistons will be fine without him.

For one I think it was a good move that Joe Dumars let Ben go. If you think about it Ben is jsut really taking up space on the offensive end. I'll give him his props he's a great defensive player but he's greedy and wants too much money. He was already getting paid more than every other player on the Pistons team. And Ben Wallace wouldn't be who he is if it wasn't for Joe Dumars and the Piston's for the matter. i think it's a bunch of bull how he is going to leave the Piston's like that. He's NOT going to get a ring with Chicago. So if its all about money I don't see why he didn't stay with detroit because everyone knows Detroit will make it father along in the playoffs than Chicago and they up your pay the higher you get. Truthfully Detroit didn't lose much all Ben was was the face of the Pistons. But trust Dumars is a smart man and Detroit will all right WITHOUT Ben Wallace. I have lost all respect that I had for him

Ben Wallace, the most dominate defensive player in the game, and Tyrus Thomas, the athletic freak of the draft, have landed at a team who has a great perimeter, but needs inside defense. Chicago is in for a great year next year.
If the Pistons will continue to be the Pistons, they will find a way, one way or another, to recover. They won't a dramatic fall in the standings or something. They MIGHT even improve.

What did Chicago have to lose? They've had ZERO success since Jordan left, they are watching teams like LA, CLE and DEN have success with young superstars, and be honest: If you are a Bulls fan, are you realy going to see Tyson Chandler and Elton Brand?LOL
This will give them a box office draw, defensive presence and rebounding. But they still don't have enough offense to compete with teams like Miami, and they won't have a defense equal to Detroit.
This will hurt Detroit but they are such a good TEAM, they can overcome this. Easily you can say Detroit is still one of the top 2 teams in the East and will be right there again for the Eastern Conference Title.
This might get Chicago into the Conference Semis, but by no means does this get them into the elite of the conference.

The Bulls just made a great move. They could possibly now have one of the best defenses in the Eastern Conference. I mean nobody's gonna try to drive through the lane with Tyson Chandler and Ben Wallace guarding the hoop.

It helps Chicago. They get a proven defender. A guy who loves defense more than offense is rare. The Bulls will do fine. The Pistons are so deep that they will cope with the loss.

It means the Bulls move to the top of their division. The Bulls have been a talented young team without a spirited leader or a center who can dominate, Wallace gives them both. Bold move for the Bulls, but one that has them headed in the right direction.
