I think you mean "How to predict the FINAL score of the game before it starts?"

That's the world of handicapping and sportsbooks pay big $$$$ to individuals to do this.

The handicapper takes into account this and many more information: location of the game (home vs away), grass vs artificial surface, dome vs outside, weather conditions, injured player lists, team history (stats from those 2 teams playing against one another), tendencies (how the team did the week before), if the team had a bye the week before, what record the team has at home, what record the team has on away games, stats on avg points scored in a game, stats on how many points a team gives up, then there are intangibles like if a player gets injured how deep is their backups and whether the backup can fill in adequately, turnovers per game, takeaways per game.

I used to try and study all this info when I was living and betting football games in Las Vegas but I lost too much money so I had to move. Just like all games of chance at Vegas the longer you stay in the game, no matter your current win streak, the house will get their money back and more. Sure I had my good days but my losses caught up to me. Oh well, I see it as 7 1/2 yrs of entertainment and it was sure fun trying to figure games out.

If you have a team that is averaging 30 points a game and giving up 20 against a team that averages 24 points per game and gives up 22, a good guess would be 27-21 or something along the lines of that.

that's an old one the score is 0-0 before the game starts. in soccer , the score is still 0-0 at the end of the game too

You take a teams offensive and defensive rank, and average that in with how many points they score and how many they give up, then make a prediction based on that.
