I don't see his name in any studio albums but maybe he did on a bootleg LP. I say Pete Townsend would never have let Jimmy play for fear of being shown up. A buddy of mine says he did.

Yes. Jimmy Page was second guitar behind Pete Townshend on their first release in England called "I Can't Explain". Jimmy was a studio musician and Pete Townshend, being no dummy, spotted his talent. He asked Jimmy to play on the track, and they eventually became great friends.

Yes, he did.

On the song "I Can't Explain" (the first ever record as The Who), their managers brought in Page, who was a session player at the time I think, to play the guitar riff. As far as I know thats the only studio work he did with them.

Page also appeared on one of Roger Daltrey's concerts for the charity, the Teenage Cancer Trust, a few years ago.

Jimmy Page played for A LOT of Bands for Studio Recording... so I wouldn't be surprised if he did at one time or another... especially before the Zeppelin years.

No. He was a session guitarist and played with Joe Cocker and many others though before Led Zeppelin. Did you know he and Jeff Beck used to be in the same band (at the same time)? The Yardbirds!
