Both are Intel chips. So they will both run all the same software and instructions. The difference is that the Petium has some additional memory build into the chip which allows it to preload instructions so that it can read and run them faster then a celeron. But you pay more for that memory as it is the most expensive part of a microprocessor. The speed difference is usually in fractions of a second. So you have to weight the need for speed against the size of the wallet to determine which is best for you.

The celeron is a lower end chip with less capability. It was intel's version of a "cheap" chip to compete better with AMD.
In short, Pentium is better, but generally a brand new model celeron will generally be faster than a 2 year old Pentium. But a new pentium to a new celeron (rated at roughly the same GHz) will see the pentium noteably outperform the celeron.

Let's just say if you buy a celeron be prepared to replace it in about a year, they have the shortest life I have ever seen- had 2 and they BOTH crapped out in a year, plus they were slower

depends, pentium is a lil faster and more reliable but also more expensive, celeron is cheaper but is known for its overclockability
