it appears that water is not getting to engine to cool it.when i take heater hose loose at gooseneck and run water in at gooseneck with water hose it does not run hot till i stop putting water in.put hose back on and in a mile or less it is hot again. water pump was replaced approx. a year ago

It sounds like the radiator is plugged. Does water pump out the nipple in a strong stream where the heater hose goes when you have it disconnected? This would indicate that the heater core is not plugged and that the water pump is OK. Also, if "stop-leak" was ever put into the cooling system, it may have clogged the radiator. IMHO, remove the radiator and have it flow tested. You may find it's in need of replacement anyways, as these were famous for the "fins" rusting off, and plugging.

could be your engine/radiator needs flushing.
Also, if you're driving over 80, maybe 70, could cause it to over heat. The radiator may be small because in '93 the speed limit might have been 55.

Could be a bad head gasket.have the radiator pressure checked.

if youve ever used radiator stop leak or any of that sort of crap the block could be all pluged up.

check the water pump... the impeller could have corroed away especially if it came from autozone

you have a bad water pump I have bought them and they were bad out of the box the t stat is out and you run streight water in the sumer and coolent in the winter. could have bad valves.see a macanic .
