I just went to see "Superman Returns" this afternoon.
Brandon Routh, as Superman/Clark Kent, was as good as can be expected, given that he's PLAYING SUPERMAN. Not many ways to go, in terms of "making the character your own". Similarly, Kate Bosworth (who is ex-TREME-ly hot) as Lois Lane was a rather shallow character. Everyone else was perfect in their role.

My question is this: how come Lois Lane's son, Jason (played by Tristan Lake Leabu), exists at all? During the course of the film, the viewer becomes aware that this kid really is Superman's offspring. Now, in "Superman II", Lois and Clark/Superman did "get it on", in the Fortress of Solitude; at that time, Superman had subjected himself to the "molecule chamber", which made him into an ordinary human. Fine, but...can someone explain to me how Superman (an alien) managed to impregnate a human woman? And if he was just "human" at the time, why would the kid have super powers (like piano-throwing)?

First of all ... I TOTALLY agree with your assessment of the movie ... I mean verbatim!
Anyway, the only thing I can think of is this:
Let's say that Superman does have DNA and in it is held a "super" gene. This "super" gene is dominant (like brown eyes) and cannot be overpowered by other "un-super" genes. Even though Superman's powers were turned off at the time of conception, he still had the same DNA ... therefore, producing a totally super baby.
Side note regarding the kid:
Don't you think that Lois Lane would have a well groomed son. (i.e. hair combed.) If she was that anal about what he ate you'd think that she could cruise down to Supercuts for a quick trim of the Superkid's hair!

First of all, it's a movie.. from a comic book, no less, so a lil bit of rule-bending here and there should be expected. And I agree with you, Lois was rather shallow..

And as for Superman having a son, maybe when he was made into a human, his genes that were passed on to Lois probably didn't change essentially.. or something like that..

ok simple

He used the molecule chamber to change him into a human, when in turn he slept with lois getting her pregnant. Now his DNA would not change from the chamber just make him weak for a time being. So when Jason was born he would not have all the powers that SUperman had until he had soaked up enough sun to power his kryptonian cells, which probably also explains why he is so sickly

Lois and Superman got it on before he stepped into that crystal chamber to become human. Also Superman was sent to Earth because Earthlings were similar in structure and appearance.

I agree with some of the other answers....although he was made 'human', i.e. lost his powers, that would not change his actual molecular structure would it? no matter if he lost his powers, he would still be an 'alien' to the human race. He may appear to be human, as i mentioned before, he would still be passing over his Kryptonian genes to his son.
