When I type in the integral of e^x^2 in Mathematica it gives me this weird answer that has erf(). I know that this indefinate integral does not actually exist but I thought I'd try it anyway. Is erf() something from complex analysis?

erf is the error function. To solve your integral, you need to express it as an infinite series.

Erf is the "error function" encountered in integrating the normal distribution (which is a normalized form of the Gaussian function).
