If you go on Google Maps and Google a place like West Edmonton Mall, then after you get a basic map, you can choose "satellite" and it will show you live( but still-motion) pictures of the place. Does or does that not sound like spying?

Google doesn't show live satellites photos. In fact, most of these photographs are a couple years old. You can easily determine that by checking a recent construction site in your area and seeing if Google picked it up.

BTW, Google buys the pictures from commercial companies which own these satellites.

No. Google is not spying on you. Those are still images. Actually I have not seen any people on the maps or Google Earth. Now some kind of government have the technonolgy to use satellites that are not still images they are real time videos.

Huh, I didn't know you could do that. Doesn't really seem like they are spying on us, but it sure seems like a tool others might use to spy on us that Google has freely given away.

Spying typically implies a rational expectation of privacy. If you expect privacy at a mall, then you're off your rocker. =)

of course, every web site you go to is bugged by the government, they listen to your phone calls too. When you order something off the internet, when you put your adress in they know where you live.
