My 14 yr old daughter and my boyfriend and basically my 2 sister's act like they are ashamed to be seen with me. My daughter does not want any of her friends to know I am her Mother and my boyfriend acts like he does not want anyone to know we are together.He never takes me anywhere unless it is somewhere we won't be seen like fishing , sometimes to play pool but that is only after he has had a few drinks. He has to show me up with everything we do and make me look dumb. I am really hurt by all this, I know I am not the best thing to look act as I have had a lot of surgeries on my legs, both of them and sometimes they swell up, but jeez I do have feelings.I am so tired of sitting at home and am falling into depression. Could someone out there tell me what to do. Is there a Doctor out there that would do pro bono surgery on me you know like before and after to boost their business. Please no smart a-- answers. As a paralegal with a BA in social-psychology, Im going to try and help you out whether you like my answer or not. First, if you are trying to regain your self confidence dump the boyfriend, hes only out for himself and really does enjoy putting you down, sort of a self macho bit, Nobody on earth nowadays ever has to put up with an idiot that trys to make himself look good at the expense of others, you need someone that will let you be you and helps compliment your assets, one who would be proud to show you off no matter where. Trust me those kind of guys are out there, just be patient, but dump the nerd. Second, teenage girls or boys have always had a problem being seen with their parents-a peer pressure thing, so dont blame yourself. Your kids love you very much whether they want to be seen with you in public or not. They just dont realize that there are kids out there ,for whatever, reason would love to be seen with a mother like you. All teenagers will learn sooner or later that beauty lies in the beholder and its only skin deep. Keep up being a great mom as God knows theres a shortage of them today and work on being a proud woman that holds her nose high and nobody no where can rain on her parade.
