Sorry, dumbassess, it most definately was NOT signed on the 4th of July:

"Independence was declared on July 2, 1776, pursuant to the "Lee Resolution" presented to the Continental Congress The full Declaration was rewritten somewhat in general session prior to its adoption by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, at the Pennsylvania State House. Word of the declaration reached London on August 10.

On July 19, 1776, Congress ordered a copy be handwritten for the delegates to sign. This engrossed copy of the Declaration was produced by Timothy Matlack, assistant to the secretary of Congress. Most of the delegates signed it on August 2, 1776"

Stupid Americans never even READ the thing.

Yes, on July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress of the United States (before it was actually the United States) declared a Declaration of Independence against Great Britain. In other words the people in the U.S., told the British that they didn't want to be part of their empire anymore.
So every July 4th, we celebrate our Independence from the British monarchy.

The Deceleration of Independence was finished and signed on this day. A very dangerous act, because the people who signed it were telling King Henry "I am your enemy."

Just what are they teaching kids in school now days?
