My friend dropped off some plum tree branches to grow...the leaves are drying out. I have them in a pool of water, what should I do so that I can plant them?

if its branches you cant plaint them, will not grow with out root. you say clone, don't under stand what you mean. My grandfather was a peach farmer in ms. as a hobby he would cut a limb from a plumb are Any fruit tree then he would cut a limb of the same size off of a peach tree splint the plume limb onto the peach tree and it would bear fruit. if the leaves are dead the branch is dead, no bringing it back. The best time to do this is in the winter when the tree is dormant. Any transplanting planting does the best in lat winter early spring.

A branch cannot be grown. However you can get a rooting hormone solution and take a cutting from the tree and dip it in the solution then plant it,preferably in sand til it grows roots than keep moveng it to larger containers til big enough to plant outside.
