Why do people assume your gothic when you dress in alot of dark clothing and like rock ?

My friends always tease me about my gothic streak, due to my interest in what they term "satan rock" (really things like Slipknot, Rob Zombie, and even something as innocent as Taking Back Sunday!) and my usually dark sense of humor. The problem lies within the fact that people always try to pigeonhole other people into some stereotype or category. It makes them think that they have a "good beat on things" and that they "know a person." But really, it is a lazy means to actually getting to know a person's soul. Since most people stereotype "goths" (who are NOT all the same and many a "goth" won't even claim the title) as headbanging freakazoids who ALWAYS wear black, your musical taste and style makes people toss you into a stupid box. Point is, people fail to realize how complex human beings really are. So that's my little spill on that.

Because most goths dress in dark clothes and like rock, so it encourages a stereotype that all people who dress in dark clothes and like rock are goths.

Yeah I've always wondered that too. They probably just like to make fun of what they're wearing and think they look funny so they say hahahha you're goth.

Goes with the territory. If you saw someone wearing their pants down to their knees, would you assume that that person's into hip hop?

People always seem to make stupid assumtions...They like thinking there smart and starting the new drama...OMG that girls goth...its just stupid....not your question lol the way people do that.
