I click the text box and nothing happens. To the pros my problem is a joke but I just need to know the basic steps. I need it to create some ads. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about Mac, but here's how it's done on a PC.

Click on the T text icon.

Make sure you use an opaque standard lettering effect or else it will have a "masking effect" and the text won't appear visible but as an outline. You can change this by holding down the mouse button over the icon.

Click on the picture where you want the text box layer to be placed.

Start typing what you want. Also, make sure your font color is set to anything but the background color or it will not be visible.

Also make sure the text box layer is on top.

You started correctly. Click the text box, then click on the photo or whatever you want the text on. A box will come up that you type your text into. Make sure that you have a color that will show up on the photo. You can change font, color and size.

Try adding a new layer, then click on the text button and then click where you want the text to be on the picture and drag it to make a box.

it could be in regards to the picture format you're choosing once you save. i'd advise PNG format, because that is compressed yet without the information loss imposed by utilizing codecs like GIF and JPEG. desire that permits!
