is it safe to take castor oil when you are pregnant. I am just wondering if it is safe befor i do it. I am 37 1/2 weeks along that is 9 months 2 weeks. When i get to 40 is it safe has anyone experianced this befor

(To let you know, I'm a paramedic.)Well I assume since you're pregnant, you want to take castor oil because you're getting constipated. Castor oil actually irritates the lining of the intestines and the bowels....so it'll come out pretty quick. I would advise against this though. You need to take a gentle laxative, not nothing that's gonna "blow you out", but please talk with your doctor first. If this is your first baby, then also be advised that when the baby is starting to deliver (during your labor), you'll have an urge to use the toilet. Don't do this, or you child could wind up in the toilet. I wish you and the baby the best of luck............

40 weeks is full term if u take castor oil you will go into labor i did it with my first born and it worked fast bout half an hour later the pains started

If you do take it, only take a small amount because it's some really powerful stuff,
