Old enough to be responsible about it. Old enough to understand that the consequenses of having sex are real. Old enough to be able to make the right decisions should one of these consequenses occur.

Old enough to be able to deal with the consequences of having sex (ie. pregnancy, STDs) and in a committed, loving, healthy relationship. Also remember, you can only lose your virginity once. I waited until I was 19 and going out with a guy for over a year before having sex, and I haven't regretted waiting for the right time. There are other things you can do to be intimate without having sex that are safer but still enjoyable.

Legally, until you are 18.
Really, until you are mature enough to raise the child you produce for 18 years!

When you are emotionally mature & financially stable enough to take on the responsibilty of raising children because it can happen. When you are married is best.

You both should get tested for STDs and HIV. If you are not old enough to be confident walking into the clinic or confronting your mate about making this your first step.....

THEN YOU ARE NOT OLD ENOUGH.
