Collins College in Tempe, Arizona is where I'm currently working on a degree in video game design. It's accredited by the major institutions in the United States, which means that a bachelors carries the same weight as a bachelors degree from a state university or more well-known private university.

The education I'm getting is well-rounded -- in the last year, I've learned about documentation, writing, art, programming and other important parts of game design. The Game Design program itself is an all-around education. For more specific desires, there is also Game Art and from what I understand, Programming for Games will be added to the degree list soon.

In terms of available jobs, it's one of the best. A number of people who I know have jobs waiting for them when they graduate, generally starting around $60,000 per year. One of my closest friends graduates in 6 months and has a job with EA waiting for him when he gets out of school. I've done freelance writing work for game companies and made good money for it.
