I'm starting to play soccer and tennis and wanted to know if boxers, briefs, or a jockstrap is necessary or not.

Having been a soccer trainer, the big issue here is tortion, a twisting of the spermatic cords which can leave you in INCREDIBLE pain and sterile. There is also the very real possibility that the wrong ball is going to get kicked. Neither option is worth toying around with boxer briefs and going commando is foolhardy. Depending on which field position you are going to play, at least a jock and possibly a cup if you tend goal. Your boys will thank you for it. For tennis, tighty whities are probably OK.

Briefs are great. I hope you arent changing in front of people though because then you get some looks. Boxerbriefs are ok but unless they are very stretchy they will move up on the crotch which is annoying. A jock strap is to embarressing i think and it also holds it to tightly. Boxers, thats just a no no. To loose. Tight stretchy briefs are the best. Want a good pair look at amazon.com and search for calvin klien 365 briefs. i recommend those. They are tight and small but if no one sees you its ok.

You dont want to flop around, so pack it up. Boxer briefs are great for this.

There are a lot european soccer players who don't wear any underwear at all. That's why you get all those pics of their stuff when their shorts get lifted. I dunno how can they run and wear no underwear, I guess you need to get used to it.
