Is there any set rules on engagement rings, are 3 stone rings only for anniversary or can they be worn as engagement rings?

While I don't know of any true rules on engagement rings, most generally are a single simple stone. However, having the ring that puts a smile on the fiancee's face is a great way to start the beginning of a long and happy marriage. Just as long as the ring pleases the person to be wed is all that will be important. I am sure that if the ring consists of three stones and the person likes it, then that may be the way to go. Does the number three serve any importance? Maybe that can be something to grow on. Usually the engagement ring is the first of a set which the wedding band will be joined to. See if the wedding band in mind may go with the engagement ring you are considering.

There really are no hard and fast rules when it comes to choosing an engagement ring. Most traditional couples get a diamond solitaire engagement ring. Three stone rings and other muti-stone rings are also common engagement rings. As long as the stone has diamonds (especially a center diamond), that could usually pass.

Engagement rings are sold as single pieces or as sets (engagement+wedding ring). There is no rule as regards to stones and ornamentation, but it is customary for the engagement ring to be a little understated. Once married the bride can wear her 'set' or she may choose to replace the engagement ring with the wedding ring...or not. Some brides prefer to wear the 'unmatched' engagement and wedding rings together. It's all about personal choice.

You can choose any ring you like, any stone you like. Some people use old family rings, some people get new ones, some people don't bother with an engagement ring at all. Do what pleases the two of you!

I don't know about engagement rings....but I've heard that wedding rings are suppose to be plain pretty much, unbroken by diamonds or rubies or what ever to represent never ending love. Well, thats what I've heard anyway.

Because everyone is different, every engagement ring is different.

It's your choice. Go for it.

There are no rules whatsoever. What ever you think the ring means, thats what it means.

As long as you like it and it means something, wear it!
