Recently, Alienware computers was bought out by Dell but I have not been able to find the details behind this merger. If anyone has any information about the merger and ideas about what we, as consumers, are to expect from Alienware now that it is under Dell's control, please answer this question. I'd like to know what I am getting into before I drop 2 Grand for my dream computer.

I own an Area 51. I did not know that Dell bought Alienware. Is this true? If it is, this is not good.

I think everyone is still waiting to see what shakes out over time. While Dell has made initial statements that they're going to leave the current management team and credo status quo, too many of us have seen what really happens over the next 18 mos. in the tech merger world.

Too early to say...I don't think anyone but Dell insiders will have any realistic information.

It's not like Dell is some no name company that might go under next year - they are one of the biggest, most profitable PC makers ever - and as such, you can spend your 2000 with the confidence to know that SOMEONE (maybe in India) will be there to help you if anything goes wrong with it.

I suspect that Dell will maintain that brand name for quite a while, until they can slowly meld their brand into Alienware's. I also expect that they' maintain the same type of business model for them since they also tried to compete in that market and failed somewhat.

For now Dell is leaving the company managers in tact.
