In the GLBTQ area there are
a lot of haters that come to say mean things just to start a fight,
religious preaching that has nothing to do with religion,
asking questions that are too sexual in context,
wanting to find out personal information,
wanting to chat not ask or answer real questions (go to a chatroom if you want that, not here),
or other junk stuff, so it's a good idea that you can report people if they are acting wrong. That makes it a safer place to post real questions and get real answers. I haven't reported you but I have reported people before for good reasons. Doesn't yahoo look at why people report others? Snitching can be used for good.

Depends just how bad the question is.There was a big problem with someone asking sick questions about child molestation a couple of months ago, I think it's right to report those questions.
I think too many people report questions for abuse without a good reason though, 12% of my questions have been deleted for things like 'chatting' or 'not a question or answer'. I think some people need to lighten up and stop reporting every question they don't like. It takes less time to just skip a question you don't like than it does to report it.

Because there are a lot of stupid people who post things that are silly or out of line or else just not relevant. People come to this site looking for answers, not flippant comebacks or sarcastic remarks. And posting a "question" that's insincere just clouds the way for genuine questions.

people like to get offended. Classic case; a local D.C> politician used the word "niggard" describing another politician's tightfisted ways and the local black community was outraged. When told that "niggard" simply meant cheapskate or miser, they insisted on still being outraged until the poor guy was forced to resign. Can't remember his name but it's true. Just because he had a good vocabulary. "If he meant "cheapskate" he should have said so, knowing how dumb and eager to be offended we all are!"

Hmm maybe some like to offend or use language that is wrong. There are children that are easily impressionable so the report abuse button is there for a reason.

Basically, just remember that young children use this place too. With that in mind, a decent person should have no problems.(reading the guidelines helps too, ie chatting, name calling, etc)
Also, if no-one 'snitched', pedophiles would run amok, I don't think any of us would like that.
;)
