No, it's not required: "Drivers from abroad may drive in Switzerland while one years time if they have a valid national driver's licence, delivered by the state of residence. If you would drive Swiss heavy lorries, buses or taxis for professional reasons, you would need a Swiss licence before the first professional ride."

Absolutely not, but make sure that your license will be valid for at least six months after your visit. Don't cut it too close.
