WWE/ECW News: RVD and Sabu Cited on Drug Charges
WWE/ECW News: RVD and Sabu Cited on Drug Charges
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.03.2006
Someone misplaced their copy of the Wellness Plan.
In a story reported by The Ironton Tribune today, Rob Van Dam and Sabu were stopped Sunday night by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and cited for drug possession.
Troopers found RVD in possession of 18 grams of marijuana and five Vicodin, while Sabu was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and also had nine pills that were not immediately identifiable, but were known to be controlled substances. They were both cited and then posted bond.
They are scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. Thursday in Ironton Municipal Court. No word on what, if any, punishment will be served up by WWE.

Though that is shocking, it's not at all surprising. I'm sure a lot of wrestlers do that kind of stuff to get away from the stress of going out there night-in and night-out to perform in front of fans. I'm sure it is a very stressful business and hopefully, this is an isolated incident but it probably isn't.

Oh it so ticks me off. RVD is one of my favorite wrestlers. I had always hoped the 4:20 references he used in interview segments was just for show of his relaxed attitude. I was also beginning to like Sabu. I love that thing where he runs off a steel chair onto a ring rope and somehow stays on the rope for a few seconds. Such great balance.
Vince's back is against the wall here. If he allows RVD and Sabu to get away with just a slap on the wrist then other wrestlers will think they can get away with using drugs as well. They'd have to throw away the whole zero-tolerance policy.
Hate to say it but at the end of the month, we'll be kissing RVD and Sabu goodbye from the WWE.

That RVD is a complete dumbass. That explains why the storyline had Rob losing the title tonight. I guess we're not going too see RVD or Sabu for a while.

Me, I am hurt, upset, angry.
I have been a huge fan of wrestling since late 1983. I have taped and been to live events for years. As a fan, I am hurt because they had a golden opportunity. They screwed up. RVD was the champ. 2 nights. The champ. And now he has to lose it all.
I am upset as a fan since I believe that Vince has to fire both of them. And he should. You got busted for drugs. You are gone.
I am angry since it was the biggest moment of their lives. Sabu got a chance. He has never been able to be a permanent member of WWF/WWE/WCW. He always screwed it up.
As for RVD, you was the champ. You was. Vince has to take both belts off of you ASAP.
It reminds me of the IRon Sheik/Duggan drug bust in 1987. It cost Sheik his job and Duggan lost a push.
If Vince is serious on the drug issue, they need to be made an example of. Fire!

They should both be fired. The WWE's drug policy states that "any WWE talent that is arrested, convicted or admits to a violation of law relating to use, possession, purchase, sale or distribution of prohibited drugs will be in material breach of contract and subject to immediate dismissal." The link is from the Pro Wrestling Insider page explaining how the arrest relates to the policy, and the next page has the entire WWE drug policy.

In a way, I'm not surprised, but at the same time, I am. He has been busting his @$$ for so long, FINALLY became the champion, and then he blew it.
I was never a fan of Sabu, so I really could care less if he was caught. Sorry.

I expected that from Rob Van Dam, he's a hypocrite. And as for Sabu, he's probably always been on drugs!

Van dam does what he always does when given a shot at the big time. prove it is not top condenter material. Sabu is an old man for a wrestler and I don't doubt he is taking painkillers

Not shocked at all. I don't have a problem with them taking pain killers as long as its not being abused and that is ok according to the drug policy. they don't want abuse. But it sounds like a lot more to me with pot and unknown pills by Sabu. Stupid idiots to risk it all.

not exactly a big surprise. rvd finally is given a push and he ##@s it up. Sabu, who at 42 was/is probably on his last run also is the same boat.
