SPOILIER HERE.... ONLY READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH woolybugger's EQUATIONS
..... too bad you can't divide by zero.... strange stuff tends to happen.... like 2=1 ;) (or 1+1=1)

this is how:
let a=b
1) times both by a: a^2 = ab
2) subtract by b^2: a^2-b^2 = ab-b^2
3) factor: (a-b)(a+b) = b(a-b)
4)dividing by a-b gives: a+b = b
5)substituting a for b: 2b=b
6)reducing gives: 2=1
Note: i can assure you all the algebra is correct disregarding one crucial rule of math. Can you figure out what the rule is?

in the first step, if you multiplied both sides by a and a=b, then wouldn't it just have to simplify as a^2=b^2?

for woolybugger:
you can't divide both side of the equation with (a-b), thus, (a-b) = 0, and you can't divide something with zero...
just try to press on your calculator : 1 divided by zero, or anything divided by zero, the calculator will shows : error or math error...
