Dimebag Darrell was one of the best heavy metal guitarists around in the 90s, so of course I mourned. His chops on "Cowboys from Hell" and "Vulgar Display of Power" are unbelievable. Those were two of the hardest hitting albums of that time. I heard that "Vulgar Display of Power" was banned from juvenile hall because of the effect that it had on the youngsters. The way he died was so bizarre as well. Huge loss.

I was never a big fan of their music, but I definitely did mourn the loss. That has got to be one of the most tragic rock star deaths in history. The fact that a crazed fan could just walk on stage and shoot you in front of a whole club full of people is very unsettling. The only solace we can take is that at least he died doing something he loved. He was a very influential guitar player, and he will be missed.

Yes. They are still a very influential band, and Dimebag is still considered a god among metal fans.
