Because the movie companies are more interested in profits than producing quality.

Not sure how long you have been a movier-goer. Previously, movies had a story with a good plot. A good plot develops the story, and helps the characters in the movie to be real to us. THEN they started adding all the whizbang "special effects". At first those special effects were neat. BUT then all the movies featured and focused primarily on the special effects. I do not see movies anymore because the "characters" in the movies are all HOLLOW, there is NO substance to the characters.
The other thing is that the movies before used to develop our positive human feeling, such as happiness, fear, sadness, triumph, etc. The older movies also seem to make the characters "work a little harder" for the results. Nowadays, the characters seem to have everything from the start - which does not seem realistic.
The older movies also served as a positive "escape" like a great dream. Nowadays, all I see for the previews are the gang crap. If I wanted to see that crap all I need to do is turn on the da_ _ed tv - for FREE.

Alot of movies do suck these days. I believe it is because they rush to make a dollar and don't take the time to write a script. I don't know about you but when I was a kid I loved everything. Now days I am lucky to see 3 or 4 movies a month that I like. So far this year I have liked 35 (usually I don't see that many a year I like) and 21 I don't like so this is a good year for me so far. They just need to focus and a good smart script and go from there. I think because of rising theater prices and lack of interest due to bad movies and dvds that they'll have to start making better movies.

There are many reasons:
1. People in movie business are too greedy for money and just do stuff better for ads and the movies crap.
2. People are less creative: Too many people with great ideas have gone before.
Note: NEARLY ALL (like 98%) of movies suck these days. Some are still good. Only a tiny less than 2%.

I think the directors, writers and actors are trying to further their own agendas, and not make good movies. Look at the Davinci Code and others, I would not make a movie that I dont beleive in. The other option is that the movies suck because the directors, writers and actors suck. Your choice.

Because the images are too crisp (which comes off looking too fake), the formulas are not original (so you know the ending as soon as you hear what the movie is about) and they are based on previous works.
Even Cars was not orginal (There was a cartoon in the 60s/70s featuring a world of talking cars and motorcycles, not to mention Knight Rider and autobots).

They don't. That's only what those poor suckers say who don't know where to find all the great movies that are still being made. Blahblahblah, movies were best in the 70s, blahblah. Tired of hearing it. There's a whole world full of GREAT filmmakers out there. Go seek!

Because nowadays every movie is sole about the money, the quick simply joke and the heard a 10000 times before story.
This way they can make billions without having to much fuss about script, history, details, etc.
Put a guy on a dress, falling on a banana peel to try to impress the love of his life that hasn't realize he loves her, just because she is going out to the prom with the beautiful and yet mean guy she thinks she loves, and you got yourself a movie. No fuss and plenty of bucks.

Maybe because there are no good writers left. The majority of todays movies are shallow and hardly have a plot.
